Physical Plane
The Physical Plane of consciousness is the world in which we are presently expressing life. This world is the reality in which most people agree is real. The physical Plane is governed by physical laws. The physical laws include time and space and are limited by the density of the Physical Plane. Movement is limited to the degree of density and your ability to move within it.The worlds of the Physical Plane are so much more than just being human or whatever lifeform that someone is experiencing. While the majority of a person’s consciousness is focused on the immediate world around them, there are countless worlds and events going on in the physical universe of which an individual may not be aware. Still, the universe is teeming with life, waiting for you to discover and experience it. These experiences are a part of the destiny of each soul. Time and space play a different role in the Physical Plane than in any of the other planes of duality. Physical birth and death occur much more frequently. The limitation of time and the ability to move about and to complete your experiences are often the cause for reincarnation. Soul is here to learn and develop an awareness of all creation. As it is often said,” it takes time”. Because there is no actual death of soul, you are free to take as long as necessary to grow and unfold. The density of the Physical Plane offers unique features that are not available in the planes beyond. For example, eating is not necessary on the Astral Plane like it is here. The Astral Plane has a different source of sustaining life. Much of the way that life is expressed in the Physical Plane is stimulated by the six senses; seeing, smelling, touching tasting, hearing and intuiting. There is a symbiotic relationship between the senses and the body. There is a cause and effect that results from the interaction between the physical body and the senses. This produces a life that soul experiences.There is an essential need for the slowness of time. In the planes beyond, life moves at a faster pace and often changes form in a more spontaneous manner. In the physical density, life is much slower and easier for soul to comprehend. Remember, these are worlds for experiencing and learning. We are forever as soul and there is no rush. Life is not about getting there, it’s about the journey.
Astral Plane
When life is finished in the Physical Plane, soul’s attention is most often focused toward the Astral Plane. As soul moves into the Astral Plane from the Physical Plane, soul becomes aware of many similarities. Still the overall atmosphere in the Astral Plane is different than the Physical Plane. While the Physical Plane deals with the density of matter, the Astral Plane is less dense and the predominate expression or character of the Astral Plane is emotion. Life on the Astral Plane is mostly experienced as emotionally charged dramas. Soul in its experiences on the Astral Plane may find itself drawn and fixated to emotional situations.The Astral Plane is larger than the Physical Plane yet smaller than the plains above it, which include the Causal, Mental, and Etheric Plane. The astral body is less dense and doesn’t have the physical limitations that are characteristic of the physical body. Life is expressed more rapidly with greater intensity so the concept of time and space is different. Time moves faster. The senses are also more intense. For example, colors are brighter and more vibrant and the ability to interact is more immediate.The emotional maturity of the astral self will determine the extent of freedom that life is able to manifest on the Astral Plane. As in most planes, soul is limited by its own personal maturity. Self-understanding and realizing the world in which it dwells usually determines soul’s capacity to act freely. Maturity allows soul to become more aware, and by becoming more aware soul becomes freer to express life.Many religions have heavens that reside in the Astral World. It is often the world where most people visit when they are day dreaming and sleep dreaming. The emotions and drama are the prime energy without the denseness of the physical plane. Space, people and situations are easily moved around to accommodate the dreamer. An example can be noted in a dream experience where the environment can be changed immediately to suit the purpose of the dream.There are many levels in the Astral Plane to encompass the range of emotional maturity and learning experiences needed for every soul. This range will include demons to saints. The spiritually mature souls will reside in the higher refined areas while the emotionally immature souls will be found in the lower darker regions known as the lower astral or hell. It is safe to say that most souls are not drawn into the lower parts of the Astral Plane. As souls transcend from a physical life into the Astral Plane, they are usually met by a spiritual being that is assigned to guide them to the place where they each belong in accordance to their spiritual awareness.In all of the planes there is an established hierarchy in place whose responsibility is to guide soul onward to its journey home.
Causal Plane
The Causal Plane is the next plane on your journey, and it is often referred to as the “seed body”. It is called the “seed body” because it is where soul is able to see itself from its entrance into the world of creation up to the present moment. It is here on the Causal Plane that soul has access to every moment it has experienced. This includes every thought, word, and deed in every lifeform and lifetime that soul has experienced. In the Causal plane soul is able to see some of its future based on what it has put into motion through its past experiences. The Causal Plane goes beyond time and space with a more direct perception. Merely by placing your attention on something here, on the Causal Plane, you are able to perceive it. It is as though soul is watching a good movie. Although most people think of the Causal Plane as the home of the Akashic Records, it is much greater than you could possibly realize. Akasha is defined as the bases and essence of all things. Throughout all of creation there are many other manifestations besides the one that soul is presently aware of. The history of the universe including all creations on all worlds and the life they have produced is recorded for soul to use in its unfoldment.It is not unusual for the soul who has been blessed to reach this plane to spend several millennia here. Discovering the abundance of creation that has come and gone; as well as, that which is still in existence is an amazing experience for soul. It is though soul is able to become a spiritual anthropologist.
Mental Plane
Beyond the Causal Plane lies the Mental Plane. This is where soul experiences the world of the mind and the incredible power that can be realized through the developing of it. In the early stages of the mental development, soul begins to understand consciousness and the duality necessary for its development. Logic is a necessity because order is needed to understand yourself. The mind’s only limitation is its ability to acquire information. This is the minds eternal quest.For clarification purposes, each body has a mind of its own which is the consciousness of that body. Each consciousness is in harmony with the plane in which it is associated, e.g. the physical consciousness with the physical body, the astral consciousness with the astral body, the causal consciousness with the causal body, and the mental consciousness with the mental body. Every soul has a set of these bodies in which to use to experience life.There is an order that each mind creates by which soul is able to categorize that which the mind deems real and useful. The mind is capable of understanding the laws of all the worlds it sees, and can turn these laws into magnificent melodies that can produce creative energies that provoke new variations of life. This is a way that soul learns to co-create.The levels in the Mental Plane are much larger than those before it. Energy is capable of being realized at its finest sensitivity. All creation is nothing more than a variation of any number of themes. It seems to the matured mind that there isn’t anything that it isn’t able to know. There isn’t any reality that the mind can not conceive, and there is an innate drive to reach that goal. The mind can become arrogant and believe it is superior to the lower bodies and often disregard them as less able and not that necessary. In truth it is always the soul who is superior.The Mental Plane offers worlds yet to be known and by which any combination of mental gymnastics can be realized. The consciousness can sometimes get lost. You can see this in great thinkers and scientist or any person extremely focused. The world outside their mind ceases to exist for a time. On the mental plane when the consciousness is not supporting any other reality it may spend thousands of years exploring the possibilities and probabilities of its understanding of a specific creation.
Etheric Plane
Next on your journey is the Etheric Plane. The Etheric Plane is often thought of as a part of the higher Mental Plane. To some subtle understanding this can be so. The Etheric Plane is definitely its own plane separate from the Mental Plane. Your etheric body is the nearest to the soul and is most able to serve soul.The etheric body is much more creative, elusive and less limited than all of the other lower bodies. It is intuitive by nature. Each plane below the Etheric Plane contains a nature that is specialized to the specific plane: the Physical Plane deals with the physicality and the Astral Plane deals with the emotionality and so on.Within each body is an established history of interaction between it and soul. All of the lower bodies have interacted in harmony with each other, as well as in opposition. An example is when the emotions are in battle with the logical mind, or the physical body wants another glass of wine while the mind says, “no it is already too intoxicated to drink any more”. Life is full of conflicts between the various bodies, as each is trying to become the dominant expression. It is soul that must become the authority.The Etheric Plane is known as the home of the intuition. It is through this aspect of intuitive communication that soul is most capable of expressing its desires to the other bodies. Soul functions as a point of awareness and doesn’t think or feel. Soul is the knower. Soul actually doesn’t do any of the things that are attributed to the lower bodies. Soul only experiences life through them. As soul matures it recognizes that the intuitive faculty is the one way that it can communicate with its lower bodies and create some continuity between them.As time goes on, the etheric body , using it’s intuitive nature, learns how to communicate with all of the bodies and bring them into sync with one another. The bond of communication between the soul and its intuitive faculty becomes extremely close. Soul doesn’t think but sees and knows. The etheric body is able to communicate from the state of knowing into the states of thinking, feeling and physical reaction. The etheric body with its intuitive faculty, at some point, becomes the main vehicle that soul uses to control its experiences and direct its intention.
Soul Plane
The journey of soul actually begins here on the Soul Plane. The importance of this plane is that this is where you, the soul, are safe and secure. Soul’s existence on the Soul Plane allows it to experience the planes of duality without having to actually manifest in them. Soul never actually leaves the Soul Plane. Soul is a piece the Creator, Itself. Soul is a piece of the divine consciousness and thus is a part of the Divine Creator. This divine soul is endowed with all the potentials of the Divine Creator, yet lacks the wisdom and understanding needed to truly co-exist with the Creator. The journey of soul is to become aware of itself and its divine qualities. The planes of duality were created for soul to gain the experiences necessary to join with the Creator and share in its creations as a co-creator. All that exist is of the Divine Creator. All creations come from the Creator and are thus, in some way or another, the Creator.Soul in its purest state is part of the Divine. Soul, of itself, is a higher vibration and not part of the planes of duality. The planes of duality were created as learning grounds where soul can learn life from the very beginning. Soul is an aware entity which is able to project its awareness into the planes below and perceive itself as the that with which it is identifying, e.g. the human existence. It doesn’t take long for soul to get lost in over identifying with the creations of those planes. The journey of soul leads inevitably towards its own self awareness in each of the planes of duality. Each plane offers unique experiences that enhance the sense of the self in the world in which it is focused.Within these planes of duality, are many spiritual beings who were created to prevent souls from getting too lost. Each plane offers both positive and negative paths with spiritual beings who have a responsibility to guide soul through them. It is important to understand that each soul has what we call free will. This is so that soul will some day recognize that it is in fact responsible for the journey it takes. Soul eventually finds the way home. While life often is difficult for soul, life is constantly teaching where the center of its truth exist. Soul will eventually become aware of itself, its actions, and most importantly its own personal authority. As soul becomes in control of its life, it begins to exercise its own personal initiative. As a result, soul will live life from within and will finally be able to begin its journey home.
