Karma

Karma is a concept of balance. Karma is often understood as punishment or blessings. Good karma, bad karma are part of the law of cause and effect. For most people karma appears in their life as a means of explaining a specific situation. Karma in the greater understanding is simply the effect of a cause that was set into motion in this life or from a past life. Karma is also an effect of that in which you are in agreement. This could be a choice of friends, a life direction, likes, dislikes, and all things that create an effect. A person’s identity with something can easily bind them to whatever the effects are from that relationship.

There are many types of karma in your life. There is the karma of your family, as well as the karma of your country. There is karma in all relationships, some hardly noticeable while others can be quite dramatic. Karma is an expression of the destiny of life.

An important value of karma is in teaching soul about life and what is beneficial or detrimental for soul. Karma teaches soul about harmony. Soul will find that its life is about the things that it harmonizes with. Some of the things that soul is in harmony with can be very painful and disturbing, while other harmonies can produce happiness, peace, and tranquility. Soul learns in time that it can, to some degree, control the karma in its life. Not all karma is the result of souls own actions but is the result of outside circumstances such as family or environment. This type of karma soul is able to move away from through detachment.

The greater value of karma is in learning how to get beyond the limitations that some karma may create. Life is often uncomfortable because soul is not in harmony with the situation. It is up to soul to determine if it wishes to be in harmony or move beyond. Much karma is a result of what soul identifies as important to its life. Some examples are money, possessions, addictions, romance, and undue attachments. All of these create an atmosphere of limitation so the tendency is to possess and control. As soul learns to live with an awareness that life is abundant with new things for it to experience, there is a change in karma. Because there is no longer an identity with those things soul is free to move on. It is only attachment to things that keep soul karmically bound.

Another form of karma is the destiny karma. Without this karma, soul would not be drawn to the things it needs to experience. No soul in its right mind would choose the difficulties it must experience on its journey. It is because of soul’s limited view of its life that it often must be provoked into new situations to experience. Every soul has a natural order about it that is a result of its own totality. It is naturally drawn to the experiences that are right for it to meet. How soul deals with these experiences will also influence the karmic outcome. In many ways karma can be understood as a tool used to mature soul. All along soul has free will even if it is unable to exercise it. Karma will assist soul to learn what it needs to learn.

Good karma is, like its opposite, a manifestation of balance. It is essential to have both good and bad karma. Good karma is the build up from positive efforts in soul’s actions. Many believe that by doing good they will create good karma in their future. It is necessary to have, whenever possible, a break in life. Both karmas are necessary to continue life in the planes of duality. Without karma there might not be a consistent life force because karma is a great motivator.

Ultimately karma leads soul to itself as being responsible for its life. Soul will eventually move beyond the stimulus of karma and choose its life from its own understanding of its own harmony with life. Karma then would represent attachments to physical, emotional, or mental concepts. Soul has become free from these attachments and thus can see more clearly how to express life.
